Description

A remarkably heavy, rugged, and heavily armored gastropod shell. The body whorl is dominated by rows of prominent, sharp, triangular spines and blunt knobs that serve as defense against predators in turbulent reef environments. The spire is low and flattened. The shell has a solid, stout structure with a narrow, heavily-toothed aperture featuring strong columellar folds.
