The background coloration is a glossy greyish-brown to purplish-brown, adorned with distinct lighter circular spots (the 'measles') surrounded by darker rings. It features three faint darker transverse bands across the dorsum. The margins and base are lighter beige with dark brown spots near the narrow, toothed aperture.
Rarity
Uncommon to Rare. While sometimes found by dedicated divers or beachcombers after major storms, intact live-taken or high-gloss beach specimens are prized finds.
Habitat
Found in shallow tropical and subtropical waters, typically living under coral rocks, inside coral crevices, or beneath rubble in reef environments from the intertidal zone down to about 30 meters.

Description
An exquisite and highly polished ovate shell possessing a high-gloss enamel finish characteristic of healthy cowries. The dorsum displays a rich brownish-grey canvas interrupted by pale ringed spots. The underside is flattened with a long, narrow aperture lined with fine teeth along both the outer and inner lips.
