Size

Approximately 4 to 5 inches in length, which is a medium-to-large size for this species. Adults typically range from 3 to 7 inches.

Color & Pattern

Creamy-white base color adorned with characteristic rows of brownish-orange or reddish square spots and blotches arranged in spiral bands. The interior of the small aperture is a pale white. The colors appear natural and well-preserved.

Rarity

Common to Uncommon depending on the specific island locality, readily found by divers and occasionally washed ashore.

Habitat

Found in shallow subtidal waters down to about 30 meters, typically buried in clean sandy substrates in tropical coral reef environments.

Description

An elegant, elongated turret-shaped shell featuring numerous tightly wound, flat-sided whorls tapering to a sharp point. The surface is smooth with subtle growth lines and distinctive rows of dark spots running along the sutures and mid-body of the whorls. The aperture is small and terminates in a short, notched anterior canal.
